Sustainable Fisheries Community

NISA has established a Sustainable Fisheries Community (SFC) funding initiative to recognise how important the local fishing communities are around Ireland and to prioritise those operating in the proposed NISA wind farm area.
The SFC is fund which has been launched by NISA aimed at supporting the national fishing community with an emphasis on regional development and roll out. This is an innovative project that will seek to identify and practically address potential shortfalls in conventional fisheries mitigation strategies to ensure the just delivery of both energy and food security.

The SFC is focused on the protection and enhancement of a locally sustainable fisheries and marine environment in the waters around the NISA project which also delivering long term wider industry benefits.
The initiative will be steered and influenced by members of the fishing community, administered by an independent 3rd party and supported by the NISA project which has already allocated significant funding for this purpose.
